temp.One - OhGoshLeotus

During an evening studio session in Los Angeles, I was dared to freestyle. Fully aware of my lack of skill and convinced nothing good could come of it, I still stepped up to the challenge, stumbling through a few clumsy bars. What happened next was pure magic OhGoshLeotus effortlessly transformed my offbeat ramblings into a beat that was nothing short of extraordinary, crafting a masterpiece from chaos right before my eyes.

OhGosh has built a career on defying expectations, a journey that has taken him from underground beat battles to influential pioneer. An established force within SoCal’s music scene, his production is a testament to his passion, skill, and adaptability qualities that keeps his audience intrigued and demonstrate his ability to blend various influences, rather than conforming to what’s currently popular. The IE native commands respect across the music spectrum, working with everyone from hard-hitting rappers to soulful R&B vocalists and even people like me, who have no business being around music studio equipment.

OhGoshLeotus’s approach to music production is marked by a rare versatility and a profound understanding of music across genres. He doesn’t limit himself to a specific style; instead, he embraces the challenge of any genre, not out of obligation but out of pure curiosity and skill. His catalog isn’t missing any genre due to a lack of ability, but rather because the opportunity hasn’t yet presented itself. With a keen ear, he dissects each piece of music with precision, breaking down and analyzing every instrument, rhythm, and melody. This meticulous attention to detail allows him to transition seamlessly between genres, catering to a diverse range of music enthusiasts.

What truly sets OhGoshLeotus apart, however, is his deep-seated passion for music—a love that has been a constant thread throughout his life. From discovering music with his family to playing drums in church, learning multiple instruments like guitar and piano, and producing tracks for friends, his journey is rooted in genuine enthusiasm and exploration. Unlike many in the industry, he isn’t driven by a desire to collaborate with specific names or hit particular metrics. His approach is organic, often guided by the energy in the room and a loose set of goals, proving that sometimes ‘winging it’ can lead to the best results.

Despite his spontaneous approach, OhGoshLeotus maintains a dedicated routine in the studio. His process begins with meditation music and a dose of caffeine, creating a calm yet energized atmosphere for creativity to thrive. Before diving into a session, especially with new collaborators, he prioritizes setting the right vibe. This might involve sharing his latest projects or listening to what his collaborators have been inspired by recently—what he calls a “stretch for the ears.” This careful preparation fosters an environment where creativity flows freely and authentically. Today, OhGoshLeotus extends this creative ethos to his popular YouTube stream, where he creates live weekly, both solo and with other artists. He thrives on the energy of having an audience, often producing some of his best work in front of a live crowd. For him, it’s not just about making music but about creating an experience—one that resonates deeply with both himself and his listeners.

Get ready to experience the next chapter in OhGoshLeotus’s musical journey. His new project, temp. One, is set to be released on August 30th, and the anticipation is palpable. This project promises to culminate his diverse influences and versatile collaborations, a blend of tradition and contemporary perspective that will excite and intrigue his audience.

temp. One will be available on all streaming services.

Tower Of Babylon - Sonnie Babble

Grief, in general, is classified into five stages: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. Each step helps us learn to live with the one we lost. For San Bernardino's Sonnie Babble, his project  DV3  marks the start of his grief cycle, and his latest release,  Tower Of Babylon,  is the last step on his artistic journey to the final stage of grief, acceptance.  The first track, "My Fathers Last Message," gives listeners an intimate look into Sonnie's relationship with his father and sets an uplifting tone as it ends with a harmony of "wait until I see you once again." The project officially starts with "T.O.B Intro," where he combines passionate lyricism and a foundation of dynamic beats to recount his life journey and paint an honest portrait of his evolution as a man and artist.  In contrast to the darker parts of  DV3, Tower Of Babylon is   Sonnie living in the now, experiencing life, and appreciating every moment. Despite the proj

DIY2 - Curtiss King

The concept of influence is ingrained in modern society. A scroll through social media will show some of the many people whose images are perfectly curated to feel natural and relatable. Yet, for the most part, the only thing many maintain is an air of inaccessibility. When I first heard of Curtiss King, I assumed he would fit under that umbrella. It took one ForTheRecord interview to realize that I was wrong and only one meeting to understand that he is not an influencer; he is so much more.  Curtiss King is a modern-day Renaissance man with a distinctive ability to inspire new perspectives. He raps, produces, creates beats and social media content, and mentors. Most impressively, he does this and more while prioritizing being a loving husband and father and an invaluable resource to his peers. His latest album, DIY2, comes after a 5-year hiatus and a decade since the release of the first DIY album.  I met Curtiss at KnockHouse Studios in Downtown LA, and despite it being our first i
